Features

What Consolry does that your panel doesn't

Four things that need the panel to understand Minecraft, and the basics every panel should already get right.

01

Install and update plugins without the file manager

Search Modrinth, Hangar and CurseForge from inside the panel. Dependencies come along automatically, and every update is backed up first.

02

Read a crash in one sentence

Consolry matches the stack trace to the plugin it came from and tells you what to do. It runs on your machine, so the log is never uploaded.

What happened

EssentialsX Chat didn't load because it needs EssentialsX, which isn't installed on this server.

03

Change settings in a form, not a YAML file

Plugin settings become a page that checks what you type. Before saving, you see exactly which lines will change.

04

Switch server software without guessing

Move between Paper, Purpur, Fabric and NeoForge. Consolry fetches the build and the Java version it needs.

The basics

And everything a panel should already do

Under the hood

How it's built

This is the design the first release is being built to.

The stack

PanelGo, shipped as one binary with the React interface embedded. REST API with scoped keys.
DatabaseSQLite by default, so a home install is a single file. PostgreSQL for larger installs.
DaemonGo, one per machine that hosts servers. Talks to the panel over HTTPS, with WebSocket for the live console.
Isolation on LinuxEach server runs in its own Docker container, with CPU, memory and disk limits.
Isolation on WindowsEach server runs as a normal process. Meant for your own servers, not for untrusted customers.
Game modulesCompiled into the panel. Minecraft is the first; the same interface becomes the public SDK.
LicenceThe core will be released as open source under AGPL-3.0 at the first full release. Paid features ship as separate modules.

Day to day

What changes for the person running the server

JobTodayWith Consolry

Update a plugin

Find the download page, upload the jar over SFTP, delete the old one, restart, hope.

Click Update. A backup is taken first.

Work out a crash

Scroll through 400 lines of stack trace, then paste it into a Discord help channel.

Read one sentence that names the plugin.

Change a setting

Edit YAML by hand and find out on restart whether the indentation was right.

Fill in a form that checks what you type.

Move to a new version

Download the server jar and work out which Java it wants this time.

Pick the version. Java is chosen for you.

Host on your own PC

Install Docker and WSL, or rent a Linux box instead.

Run one Windows installer.

Platforms

Runs on the machine you already own

Mix Windows and Linux machines in the same panel.

First release

Windows

Servers run as normal programs. One installer sets up the panel, the node software and the database.

First release

Linux

Servers run in containers, sealed off from each other. Safe for hosting other people's servers.

Later

macOS

For running a server at home or testing plugins.

Later

ARM

Raspberry Pi and ARM cloud servers.
