Questions

Things people ask

Short answers to the common questions. If yours isn't here, it will be once there is a Discord to ask in.

Is it really free?

Yes. The Community edition is free, has no server or node limit, and its core will be released as open source at the first full release. Paid plans add things that save time or help teams and hosts. Anything you need to run a server safely, like backups and two-factor login, stays free.

Can I use it yet?

Yes, as a pre-release for Windows and Linux, from the Download page. It is not finished: expect bugs and missing features, and keep your own backups of anything important. Join the waitlist for one email when the first full release is ready.

Can I run it on Windows without Docker?

Yes. On Windows, Consolry runs game servers as normal programs, so there is nothing extra to install. That mode is meant for your own servers, not for selling hosting to strangers. On Linux, servers run in containers.

Which games does it support?

Minecraft first: Paper, Purpur, Fabric and NeoForge. Other games will arrive as separate modules after the first release.

Is this a fork of Pterodactyl?

No. Consolry is its own panel with its own node software, written from scratch. A one-time importer for existing Pterodactyl servers is planned for after the first release.

Where do plugins and mods come from?

Modrinth, Hangar and CurseForge, installed from inside the panel. Plugins from anywhere else, including SpigotMC, can be uploaded by hand.

What happens if I stop paying?

The paid features switch off. Your servers keep running and nothing is deleted.

Does my server data leave my machine?

No. Consolry runs on your own hardware. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you turn on a feature that needs it, and that feature says what it sends before you enable it.
